Mooting & Bar is a sub-committee of the York Law Society which focusses on advocacy and careers at the Bar.

The York Mooting and Bar Sub-Society specialises in mooting and advocacy, providing students with the opportunity to learn these skills and gain exposure to the route of becoming a Barrister. We welcome everyone from all backgrounds, regardless of any previous experience in mooting, to come along and take part.

Our aim this year for the Mooting & Bar sub-society is to increase the opportunities for students considering or undecided about a career at the Bar.

We also aim to encourage our members to sharpen their advocacy skills with our mooting workshops. Advocacy is not a skill exclusive to the Bar. More and more solicitors are beginning to engage in advocacy, and we want to reflect this in the workshops we run.

Keep an eye out on the Mooting & Bar and Law Society Instagram pages for more information about our upcoming events this year.
